COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand)

A Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) is a measurement of the capacity of water to consume oxygen during the decomposition of organic matter and the oxidation of inorganic chemicals such as ammonia and nitrite. In environmental chemistry, a COD test is commonly used to indirectly measure the amount of organic compounds in water. (Refer to the BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand))
