A Calorie (cal) is an amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree Celsius (°C). The Calorie is an amount of energy equal to exactly 4.184 joules (J). Kcal (Kilocalorie) is equals to 1,000 calories (cal); Mcal (Megacalorie) is equals to 10^6 calories (cal). (Refer to the British Thermal Unit (BTU))
