Gas Hydrate

A Gas Hydrate is an ice-like crystalline structured solid that consists of gas molecules, usually methane, but also ethane, carbon dioxide, etc., each surrounded by a cage of interlocking water molecules (clathrate). The Gas Hydrate is found in ocean floor sediments at temperatures above 0°C and pressures above one atmosphere at which they can form a stable solid. (Also, called as the Methane Hydrate, Methane Clathrate, Natural Gas Hydrate, Hydromethane, Methane Ice, or Fire Ice)
