Design Basis (or Basis of Design)

A Design Basis (or Basis of Design) defines the applicable government laws and regulations, process specifications of technology provider (if applicable), owner’s standard specifications and details, industry codes and standards, and contractor provides specifications that is included in the contract. The Design basis is a multidisciplinary document, and practically, the order of precedence in case of conflict in requirements is the order of the above lists. The Design Basis is a deliverable document of the FEED and Detailed Design and Engineering generated by the multidisciplinary effort.
