Design Basis Incident (DBI)

The Design Basis Incident (DBI) is a serious incident that has some small likelihood of occurring during the lifetime of a facility. A DBI is used to establish the acceptable performance requirements of the structures, systems, and components, such that a nuclear power plant is required to be considered in a reactor system's design. (Also, called as a design basis accident (DBA); design basis event (DBE); maximum credible accident)
