ESN (Emergency Services Network)

The Emergency Services Network (ESN) is a new critical communications system designed by Great Britain’s emergency services for fire and rescue, and ambulance services. The ESN is intended to be as least as good as Airwave, add 4G mobile data capabilities and be far cheaper and a dedicated network for use by Britain’s Emergency Services plus other authorised first responders. The ESN uses end-to-end encryption and follows rigorous Government security standards.

Reference Definition by Gov.uk: An Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP) will provide the next generation communication system for the 3 emergency services (police, fire and rescue, and ambulance) and other public safety users.
