Ester

An Ester is an organic compound from an acid (organic or inorganic) in which at least one -OH (hydroxyl) group is replaced by an -O-alkyl (alkoxy) group, usually formed by the reaction between an acid and an alcohol with elimination of water. Many naturally occurring fats and essential oils are esters of fatty acids.
