Explosive Dust

Explosive Dust is the mixture of combustible or explosive substances in the form of dust that is mixed with air (oxygen), after ignition, can cause the reaction to spread to non-combusted materials. Potentially a primary minor dust explosion leads to a much more significant secondary dust explosion. Electrical apparatus and equipment for use in the presence of combustible or explosive dust should use enclosures designed to withstand internal explosion.

Reference Definition by DIN EN 50281-1-1, 3.4: Explosive Dust is a mix of combustible substances in the form of dust or fibers mixed with air under atmospheric conditions that, after ignition, cause the reaction to spread to the noncombusted mix.
