FCC (Fluid Catalytic Cracking)

A Fluid Catalytic Cracking or Fluidised Bed Catalytic Cracking (FCC) is one of the Heavy Oil Upgrading (HOU) process that is a type of secondary unit operation in the refinery plant. A FCC technology is used for a high molecular weight hydrocarbon (e.g., Heavy Vacuum Gas Oil (HVGO)) convert to valuable products such as gasoline (prime product) and olefin gases under the high temperature and catalyst. A feed and catalyst (fluidised power) react in a reactor, and catalyst is regenerated and recycled (regenerator). A FCC process is a proprietary technology.
