Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP)

A Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP) is is the maximum pressure at which the weakest point of the equipment, system or a vessel can handle at a specific temperature in normal operation. A MAWP is the maximum pressure based on the design codes that the weakest component of a pressure vessel can handle.
