A Pound is 1) a unit of mass used (lb) in the imperial, U.S. Customary and other systems of measurement. A number of different definitions have been used, the most common today being the international avoirdupois pound which is legally defined as exactly 0.4536 kilograms, and which is divided into 16 avoirdupois ounces; 2) symbol £ the standard unit of money used in the UK and some other countries, and equal to 100 pence.
