Iodine (I) is a chemical element and atomic number (Z) 53, group 17, period 5, and atomic weight 126.904. The Iodine (I) is a non-metallic, dark-gray or purple-black, lustrous, solid element that is the most electropositive halogen and the least reactive of the halogens, used in medical treatment as tincture.
