Armistice

An Armistice is a formal agreement between two countries or groups, the opponents at war to temporary stop of open acts of warfare. The Armistice Day is commemorated every year on 11 November, and some countries Armistice Day coincides with Remembrance Day and Veterans Day. The recent trend has been to broaden the scope of the armistice such as a preliminary peace treaty signed on 27 July, 1953, ending the war in Korea, and in the 1949 Armistice Agreements between Israel and its neighbouring Arab states, which marked the end of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
