Average Particular (or Particular Average)

Average Particular (or Particular Average) is a legal principle of maritime law that is loss or damage to maritime property (a ship or its cargo), caused by the perils of the sea, or borne by the owner of the lost or damaged property. In contrast with the General Average, the Average Particular does not involve a common interest. (Refer to the General Average)

Reference Definition by Logisticsglossary.com: Particular Average comprises the costs and/or damage that are exclusively borne by the shipowner whose vessel is damaged (e.g., storm damage) or by the owner of the cargo that has been damaged (e.g., as a result of a leak). In contrast with general average, particular average does not involve a common interest.
