Capillary Number

A Capillary Number (Ca) is a dimensionless quantity used in analysis of fluid flow that is the relative effect of viscous drag forces versus surface tension forces acting across an interface between a liquid and gas, or between two immiscible liquids. The Capillary Number is usually denoted NC in the oil fields and Ca in chemical processes.
