Forced Outage

Forced Outage is the electric power shutdown condition from the failure of a system component caused by improper operation of equipment or human error. The power Forced Outage is not directly controllable and usually unexpected shutdown of a generating unit, transmission line, or other facility for emergency reasons, or a condition in which the equipment is unavailable as a result of an unanticipated breakdown.
