A Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (GEMA) was established to support the interests and rights of consumers, by promoting effective competition and regulating networks in the gas and electricity industry. Day to day management of policy, resources and operational issues is carried out by the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (OFGEM).
