Lintel

A Lintel is a horizontal architectural block at the top of a door or window frame that supports the wall above. The Lintel is made of the prestressed concrete as beams or ribs that are packed together and propped to form a suspended concrete slab, or the mild steel strip that is pressed to shape, and galvanised with a zinc coating to inhibit rust, or from stainless steel. The advantage of the lintel is: comparatively lightweight; easy to handle; provide adequate support for walling; the work can proceed without delay, etc.
