Listed Building

A Listed Building is considered by the Secretary of State (for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport) to be of special architectural or historic interest that may not be demolished, extended, or altered without special permission from the local planning authority. The National Heritage List for England (NHLE) contains details of all listed buildings in England. The Listed Building categories are: Grade I Building is of exceptional interest (2.5% of listed buildings); Grade II* Building is the particularly important buildings of more than special interest (5.8% of listed buildings); Grade II Building is of special interest (91.7% of all listed buildings).
