MXene is the 2D (Two-Dimensional) inorganic compound building blocks for the future materials and devices that consist of atomically thin layers of transition metal carbides, nitrides, or carbonitrides (Mn+1XnTx, where M is a transition metal (Ti, V, Nb, etc.), X is nitrogen or carbon, and T is surface functional groups (-OH, -F, -O-, etc.). The MXene were first reported in 2012 that could be used in energy storage devices such as electrodes of Li-ion batteries, pseudo capacitors, etc.
