Nipah Virus

Nipah Virus is a newly recognized virus, spreading from animals to humans (zoonotic). It has caused diseases in animals and in humans, through contact with infectious animals. Nipah virus has become a public health concern, due to its ability to infect a wide range of species, and more importantly by producing a lethal disease in humans. However, the precise mechanisms of transmission are still unclear and treatment relies on providing intensive supportive care. (Source: www.greenfacts.org/)
