Non-Value Added (NVA)

Non-Value Added (NVA) activity is a management term related to the lean manufacturing movement that produces a zero or negative performance on the investment of resources such as the transportation, inventory, inspection, waiting, and non-utilisation of the skills or of personnel as well as rework. A NVA activities are allocated to the budget cost of doing work or business that usually can be eliminated without impairing a process.
