The Nusselt Number (Nu) is the dimensionless expression of the ratio between heat transfer by convection and heat transfer by conduction named by Wilhelm Nusselt that is characteristic of slug flow or laminar flow, namely convection and conduction of similar magnitude; a larger number (100 ~ 1000) means to more active convection, with turbulent flow. The Convective heat transfer relationships are usually expressed in terms of Nusselt number as a function of Reynolds Number and Prandtl Number.
