PMI (Positive Material Identification)

Positive Material Identification (PMI) is the analysis of a metallic alloy of the materials, equipment or component that is a fast and non-destructive testing (NDT) method for verifying the chemical composition of metals, and can be used in any situation where is uncertainty about the material composition of a component at the alloy manufacturing and in-process installation. Typical methods for PMI are X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) and Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES).
