Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS)

Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) is a renewable energy regulation that an electric power provider generates or purchases a specified percentage of renewable energy from renewable energy resource to increase and guarantee a market capacity for electricity generated from renewable energy resources such as wind, solar, biomass, and geothermal. (Also, called as the Portfolio Standard or Renewable Electricity Standard (RES) at USA, and Renewables Obligation in the UK)
