Research Coefficients are fractions or proportions applied to statistics describing the total resources of the higher education sector. They are derived in a number of ways, ranging from informed guesses to sophisticated models. Whatever the method used, they are a useful alternative to the more costly large-scale surveys of researchers and/or higher education institutions (Source: OECD)
