Residence Time (or Retention Time)

Residence Time (or Retention Time) is a measure of how long a fluid stays in a vessel for the equilibrium state at required pressure and temperature. (e.g., a chemical reactor, a geochemical reservoir, bacteria in a culture vessel, etc.) The Retention Time is determined by dividing the liquid volume inside the vessel by the liquid flow rate.
