Sanction

A Sanction is 1) the official permission or approval for an action; 2) a threatened penalty for disobeying a law or rule, such as the stopping of trade, that is taken against a country in order to make it obey international law. The Sanctions are Economic sanctions (a ban on trade, or with certain exceptions); International sanctions (withdrawal of relations and representations); Pragmatic sanction (an edict, decree , or ordinance issued with the force of fundamental law by a sovereign).
