Special Cause Variation

Special Cause Variation in statistical measurement is the unusual, not previously observed, non-quantifiable variation in a system that is caused by unknown factors resulting in a non-random distribution of output. The Special Cause Variation is a specific change in a process resulting in a chaotic problem related to some defect in the system or method. The Special Cause Variation is also called as exceptional or assignable variation. (Refer to the Common Cause Variation)
