Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP)

The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) is the recommended methodology to assess and compare the energy and environmental performance of dwellings recommended by the UK government. The purpose is to assess how much energy a new development will consume, when delivering a defined level of comfort and service provision using standard assumptions for occupancy and behaviour. It calculates the typical annual energy costs for space and water heating, lighting and CO2 emissions, and it’s rated from 1 to 100+.
