Urban Sprawl is the rapid expansion of the geographic extent of cities and towns, often characterised by low-density residential housing, single-use zoning, and increased reliance on the private automobile for transportation, in which spreads out over large amounts of land. The Urban Sprawl development patterns are tied to the context of the urban-suburban landscape that has been correlated with increased energy use, pollution, and traffic congestion and a decline in community distinctiveness and cohesiveness. (Also, called as the Sprawl or Suburban Sprawl)
