An Air Fuel Ratio (AFR) is the mass ratio of air consumed to a solid, liquid, or gaseous fuel present in a combustion process in an internal combustion engine or other fuel burning furnace. An AFR is an important measure for anti-pollution on performance and efficiency. The perfect AFR to produce a chemically complete combustion: for gasoline engines – 14.7:1; for diesel – 14.5:1; alcohol – 6.4:1.
