Dark Pattern

A Dark Pattern is a design element of the user interface that is carefully crafted and heavily influenced to trick users into making unintended and possibly harmful choices. (e.g., trial streaming service; nearly impossible to unsubscribe; redirected to the ad’s website; can’t easily cancel, difficult to undo, etc.) There’s now a growing movement to ban dark patterns, and that may well lead to consumer protection laws and actions.
