Heat Rate

A Heat Rate is the common measure of system efficiency in a steam power plant that is the ratio of fuel energy input as heat per unit of net work output, generally expressed as Btu per net kilowatt-hour (Btu/kWh). The Heat Rate is the inverse of the efficiency: a lower heat rate is better.
