Hydraulic Diameter

A Hydraulic Diameter is a commonly used term when handling flow in non-circular tubes that can be calculated many things in the same way as for a round tube. The Hydraulic Diameter transforms non-circular ducts into pipes of equivalent diameter for the purpose of pressure drop and fluid flow rate calculations. The Hydraulic Diameter for a square duct is calculated as 4 times the flow area divided by the wetted perimeter of the conduit.
