Independent System Operator (ISO)

Independent System Operator (ISO) is the entity responsible for maintaining balance of the grid system by controlling the dispatch of plants and ensuring that loads match system resources. The ISO is similarly an organisation of RTO (Regional Transmission Organisation) in the United States who is an electric power transmission system operator (TSO) that coordinates, controls, and monitors a multi-state electric grid formed at the recommendation of FERC.
