Lethal Dose (LD)

Lethal Dose (LD) is an indication of the lethal toxicity of a given substance or type of radiation. Lethal Dose 50 (or LD50) means the amount of a toxic material, given all at once, which causes the death of 50% (one half) of a group of test animals.
