Quantity Survey (QS)

A Quantity Survey (QS) is a professional working in the construction industry concerned with construction costs of the ​materials and ​labour ​needed who manages all costs relating to the projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. A Professional Quantity Surveyor has a detailed and comprehensive knowledge of construction activities and methods, as well as the laws relating to construction projects and accounting, in order to provide cost and financial advice. The Quantity Surveyor may work for either the client or the contractor, working in an office or on site who can involve in a project from the start, preparing estimates and costs of the work. When the project is in progress, quantity surveyors keep track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability.
