Vertical Integration

Vertical Integration is a process in business strategy where a company acquires or rearranges another company within the supply chain products or services that can increase the ownership or control by the company of different stages of the production process in order to control all the processes of productions. The Vertical Integration can be forward (production to distribution stages) or backward (production to raw material operations) in which each member of the supply chain produces a different product or service, and the products combine to satisfy a common need.
