Purging

Purging is the removal of oxygen from a closed system (e.g., a container or a process vessel) to below the LOC (Limiting Oxidant Concentration) applying pressure, vacuum, and/or a purge gas. The Purging gas is the introduction of an inert purge gas (e.g., non-combustible) into a closed system to prevent the formation of an ignitable atmosphere.
